You need a shorter lens. Maybe in your case you'd be better with a compact smaller sensor camera. They have shorter focal length lenses and can do macro with more depth of field. Did you ever try one?

The picture is fine as far as I'm concerned, but you are the final judge. If you want the whole ring sharp from one end to the other, you've got the wrong lens and maybe camera to do it.

Either you move away from the subject and just crop it to get more DOF. If you move too close, you'll get thinner DOF.

or

Use focus stacking technique.

How far away did you try? I'm thinking 2 -3 feet should get you the depth of field you need. Then crop the picture. It might get grainy at some point, but experiment. Also try focusing on different parts of the ring instead of the closest face to balance what is in focus. Maybe focus 3/4 up the side or on the very top edge.

The shot looks good to me, no worries about the rear half of the ring being out of focus unless you need to show it.
Although the closest part of the ring missed being in focus which is clearly visible at larger viewing size but ok for smaller image.
With a macro setup, your depth of field will be mm's even at the lenses closest focusing distance.

Marcels post is spot on.

Do you really need the image that big in the frame?
If you have the image smaller in your viewfinder, you will have more depth of focus on the ring, then crop to frame as you like.

Focus stacking is a method where numerous shots are taken of an object where the only difference is the focus point from front to rear. You then merge them together using photshop

There are numerous "How Too" videos on you-tube.
