Long story short, my camera is no longer functional. I'm curious if any of you gurus might know if this is worth fixing? If not does anyone know of someone who may be interested in purchasing the body and lens for parts? I'd reallllllly rather not do an insurance claim if I can salvage it by selling it to somebody for parts. Here she is...

My opinion is it's a paperweight now. Pony up and buy new ones. I'm gonna say it will be cheaper and you'll have new stuff. Take your old ones and list them on ebay. You might get 50 bucks out of them as independent repair shops will cannibalize it for parts since they can't buy them from Nikon any more.

What in the world did you do to it? Drive over it? just wondering!

That is exactly what happened!! It was 0415 and I was headed out for a goose hunt. I was bringing the Nikon along to get some photos of my buddy and his boy.

Well, the case got sat down next to the rear passenger door while loading the truck...long story short I had a terrible morning. The 75-300 lens is fine though! Along with my digiscoping stuff, not that it matters because without the camera it's all useless!

It's been a rough go, realizing my stupidity daily when I want to grab the camera to go shoot...

Guess I'll use this opportunity to upgrade..

go to Adorama and buy a refurbished D500 like I did. You won't be sorry. Check it out right here!

There's a ton of stuff on eBay listed as "For Parts Only"... As was mentioned, Nikon doesn't sell parts, so the independent guys all buy the "parts' stuff...

I agree with most of the above posters. I am sure it will cost you more to fix this than it is worth. Minimize your losses and get a new camera.

It doesn't look too bad. Try a rocket blower. If that doesn't fix it, maybe a wet clean?:indecisiveness:

Seriously, sorry about your luck!

I would inquire with my house insurance. You might be covered for this without knowing it. I have a friend who slipped while hiking and the insurance paid him a brand new camera and lens. He even got an upgrade since his model was no longer manufactured.

I think it's worth a try, don't you?
