Do I need an external flash or a better lens. When I take pictures outside they don't come out.... very dark.
Thanks.

Danny, I suggest you read your owners manual on how to take pictures outside. It's just too broad a subject to answer in this forum. Taking pictures outside at night covers a broad range of factors, such as available light, lens used, focal length, etc etc.
And if you would please fill out your profile with what equipment you use and where you live, it helps us better to help you with your questions. Thanks.

Danny, your thread title says "sunset" and your OP says "outside." Even without that confusion, Jack's recommendation to narrow the scope of your subject certainly applies.

Fill out your profile, post some of your questionable shots and include exif data.

Oh, and don't pay any attention to Pete. He just says the stuff I want to only he types faster.

If you are trying to take a sunset shot and its dark then a flash won't help, but you should be able to capture it without a super fast lens or expensive kit, what mode are you shooting in? ISO settings etc would be helpful. Good luck :)

Pete, you're awesome, thanks for making me laugh as always...;). well all of you on a daily basis.:p

I'm a cheater... I always use the other "program" modes to get what I want (such as sunset mode). LOL I do, however, change the settings in an almost bracketing fashion. I am still learning  and one day when I grow up I want to be pro. I will have it all worked out, but for now, like my school book says, look at what the program mode may meter at and then put your camera on manual or aperture mode... use what the suggested setting by the camera was and stop up or down from there to get what you want.
For me, trial and error has come interestingly handy.

Anyone spoke about money? Here we accept any loan, from anyone, with any terms you want. We split the money between us, and leave the rest of the others to believe that the money went for the economic development of the country...

And that's Greek accounting... if anyone is wondering...
