There have been pretty good comments and reviews of the new SB700 at $329, I have a SB800 and like it very much and the big one is the SB900.

Should you buy a flash gun?...not if you'll never use it. If you need a flash and if price is not a concern, I would get the SB900.

I take many family Pic's mostly indoors, i was thinking that maybe a flashgun would give me better results then the built in flash does.

Yes, a speed light will really imporve your pictures. Anytime you can get the flash of your camera it makes a big difference in your photos.

MrKelso, the addition of a good flash will do wonders for your indoor photography and also open up a new specialty to learn and that is the effective use of your new flash.

Too bad the Nikon flashes probably won't work with your Pentax.

I have never found the built in camera flash to be any more useful than as a fill light for shadows. If your using it indoors at home for family shots then, as Yibel has suggested, the SB700 is reasonably priced and has most of the features of the SB900. Also available is the SB600 for about half the price of the SB700 but is an older model and does not have the the features. If you want something with more power there is the SB800 and the SB900. You can Google the model number and get all kinds of information on price and reviews. Hope this helps.
