D5000 will not turn on...

I just read a D5000 Service Advisory from Nikon that the off/on switch may be defective in certain D5000 models. I purchased my refurbished D5000 from a camera store online and only had a 90 day warranty. It is now 16 days over that.

Has anyone had any experience to know if Nikon will bend a little and cover that repair? My serial number is NOT on their list but I assume that it can change daily. Thanks , Jerry

I was shooting my grandson's football game yesterday afternoon and with 1 minute to go, I turned it off to change lenses. I could not turn it back on. When I returned home, I exchanged the batteries and that did not do it. I pressed the tiny RESET button near the memory card with no success. I called Nikon support and the guy said to leave the battery out for 24 hours to reset the internal clock. Did that with no success. Nikon did acknowledge that there was a Service Bulletin on the D5000 for not turning on. Here is the link to the Nikon SA. D5000 Service Advisory

I checked it against their database. It was not listed eventhough it did experience the problem that they had the Servive Advisory talking about. The GOOD NEWS is that the camera company on the east coast where I did buy it from, is covering the balance of the warranty. It will cost me nothing to get it fixed. They are good people. Jerry
