Not a fan of watermarks. I've seen some decent pics that are ruined by a logo/watermark. For me, they can draw you eye away from the subject. Photos are copyrighted by law. Anyone intent on stealing your work can easily remove the logo/watermark.

I agree with Jim, I especially am not crazy about signed work, never been to a showing and saw some huge signature across the print,, and for some,, it seems like a broadcast of being serious,, or maybe taking their work seriously...

copyright,,......right.... internet.......right,,,,, land of theft. or more modern term,, borrowing, or taking,

and well,, good,,, enjoy the reduced copy,, glad you might like it (is my opinion),, use it as a screen saver, paint it,, share it with
others,, if you call it your own,, then shame on you. I have the originals, and proof,, in the end who's photo it is.

course,, I'll never make serious money of my work,, its just part of my being/life.

STOP... You're not supposed to make sense... this is serious stuff... people are losing millions if they don't have a gaudy copyright across the middle of their images...:D

Your watermark looks very nice.
However instead of the word "copyright" I prefer the sign "©" or (c) . The sign © is obtained by the key combination {alt+1069).

[h=3]Example: ©2013 John Smith[/h]

Which is why it's important to have it on your images. If an infringer uses your image and removed your copyright info it shows a willful infringement which makes your case much stronger should you decide to sue. It usually doesn't come to that as most will settle.

I don't have much of an opinion on watermarks as a defense against theft. But I do think if it's done well and is not made to obstruct the view of the photo, that it can look great! It shows the maker is proud of their creations! :)
But if the use of photo is sold, I think the water mark should be removed and the maker's name and or business name should be stated under the photo instead. :)

I would add a watermark to my photos, but the PS touch app's choice of lettering doesn't have a style I like that much, and it looks like I'd have to remake it for every photo. But eventually I will use a watermark when I am able to make it look good and add it without having to remake it for every photo! :)

The easiest watermarking program out there is by TSR Watermark. Google it. Download it. It's free for private use.

Alan, what font did you use for your watermark? :) Pretty wild! :)
