I'm predominately a Landscape photographer with the odd bit of studio stuff thrown in every now and then and all ready own a D810. Now I'm thinking of getting a 2nd body and was wondering what you'd choose.. another D810 or a D3S or would you not bother with a 2nd body and spend the cash on lenses??

D3S is a great camera but IMO is better suited to action sports/wildlife type photography, whereas the D810 is ideally suited to landscape/studio.
As for having only one body ... my D4 has been away for warranty repair for over a month now, if I didn't have the D800 I wouldn't have been able to take any photos!
I see you are listed as 'Semi-Pro' ... could you afford to be without a camera for a month?

If landscape and some studio work is all you do than you choose the right camera. Photogramps is right, the D3s is more for sports and weddings. It's built for speed and shooting in low light environments. To me there's no sense spending the cash on a body not really suited for what you do. I'd wait and see what comes out in the future. Supposedly a D750 is on it's way but not sure about the specs.

If you intend to use it professionally, a D3s, D4/D4s will be suitable to accomplish any photography task.

Overall I'd say another 810 since it's a solid all-around, but since you have one as is, perhaps a d3s to broaden your options?

I highly recommend a back up, a second Nikon body! If your always doing set up shots like with tripod and able to take your time, rather outside or in a studio, I'd recommend getting another D810 if you really like it! :)
But if you want to branch out a little now and then, I think the D3s would be great! :)

I personally would love to have a D3s! But they are just out of my league. I need to stick with what I can afford! :)

If I could have any body I wanted I'd have to go with Scarlett Johansson.

Oh. Gosh... Did I type that out loud? Heh. Sorry.

Carry on, everyone; jolly good thread going here!!

*cough*

I'm a DX kinda' guy, so I can't tell you which body, but I would NEVER want to be without a second body. I carry two bodies with me all the time when I'm in the field.Long telephoto on one, zoom on the other. I'm covered for whatever comes up without having to keep changing lenses.
