Hi There Everybody-

I have a refurbished Nikon4100 and it has been working great for about 2 months. i turned it off and placed it in the case and after about a month, I go to turn it on and when I press the power button, it says "battery depleted' on the screen and thats it. i plug in the charger and nothing happens. According to the user guide, the green light on the back should be blinking and nothing happens and I let it sit for an hour. Does anybody know what I can do to get past this. I want to try to do what I can before I try to contact Nikon.

P.S. I have also taken out the battery and put it back in and nothing. The charger in the wall doesn't get warm either, not sure if that matters or not.

Thanks- Douglas

The first thing I would do is take a look at the contacts and see if they are connecting to the battery. Maybe something is bent or dirty? If they are connecting fine then try a new battery.

actually, if contacts weren't connecting then it wouldn't turn on at all. Maybe something is up with the connection on the charger?

Hi Jdeg-

The contacts are perfectly clean, nothing on them at all. I'm beginning to think it could be the charger. Usually gets warm while in the wall and hooked up, but it stay cool the whole time and the camera does not respond at all. the charger is one of those where the prongs fold in and out and I'd bet that the internal contacts have come apart somehow. If anybody knowa of any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks- Douglas

I would try plugging the usb cable into your computer, if it charges your power supply is bad, if it does not charge your camera or battery is defective.

Hi Bill- I tried the computer through the USB cable and still nothing so it might be the battery, right ?? I think I'll take it to my local Nikon service/sales camera shop and have them test it first and I'm sure the'll help me figure it out.

Thanks- Douglas
