I just received this camera for Christmas, it's ok but... It doesn't take good pictures, I was wondering if anyone had any tips on use. OR how to become a better photographer. Thanks!

That's a pretty ambiguous question. Like asking how to be a better surgeon or pilot.

So let's start with this: Post up some of your images and why you think they're not good.

I will when I load them on the computer, I'll post about 6-7 but the ones of outdoors aren't good but indoor is really good

I have this model Coolpix and I like it! I like the macro for using when I tinker on stuff and need good close up reference pics. It has lots of settings for a point and shoot. One feature I dont like is the digital portion in the zoom, not good.

Use the exposure compensation feature, it appears when pressing the right arrow on the dial. That helps a lot.

Here is a recent pic I made using the Coolpix.

I'm not sure whats going on with your pictures. Other then I think they are grainy/blurry because you are using the digital zoom feature on your camera. Here's a sample picture with my S3500.

I agree, looks like it's adding more noise to the picture, the more zoom you use.
