Hi, guys!
My P520 seems to have some problems.
I didn't use it for a couple of weeks, and today, when I tried to turn it on, the LED on on/off button lit up and thats all. I removed the battery and put it back again, and nothing happens. Does not turns on, not charging. Only thing that happened, is when I connected it to PC, the on/off LED went on again. And nothing else.... What can I do?
Thanks in advance!

How old is the battery, Could it have lost a cell...Is the camera under warranty...

Maybe it's reached it's use by date...

The battery is in use for 4 months, just like the camera. The camera is under warranty, but the problem is the place of purchase is Hong Kong. 9000km away... No use by date on the battery. So, no info on that.

That's one of the problems of buying grey...The only thing to do is take it to a shop and pay to have it looked at....

I know the bad side of buying grey, but it 2 times cheaper than in my homeland...
BTW, the battery shows 3.8 volts...

Has anyone found the reason the P520 Coolpix does not charge but the LED light on the power button goes on without turning on the camera or charging the battery?

Do you have a 2nd battery. Also look for an extra battery from blue nook through Amazon. Using an external charger and having a 2nd battery. I am not familiar with your model does have EVF does that work. Can you see anything in the view finder. Since its new why not leave out without the battery inside over night in case it's a software glitch then re-install the battery the next day. If you had a second battery you could eliminate the battery from the cause. When you measured the voltage it was probably no load on it? If it had a load you could determine if a cell had died.

My wife had a Nikon P520 Coolpix and loved it. She passed away about 4 years ago and after about a year I decided to check on the camera. As expected it refused to turn on, and I presumed that the battery had died, so I recharged it. When I put it into the camera it still refused to turn on. I then presumed that for some reason the battery had lost its ability to fully charge so I purchased another one. After I fully charged it, it also refused to turn the camera on. I then went to the extreme of charging the camera by external line to a plug. It also did not turn the camera on. I took the camera to the Nikon repair center on Long Island, where I live, and was told that the charging connection in the camera had failed, but that Nikon had no parts to repair it. and that they were incapable of repairing the camera. It's a beautiful camera, and my wife never abused it, but as a result of Nikon's inability to repair it, it has become totally useless. I would advise anyone who wishes to purchase any camera in the Coolpix line to avoid that purchase. As a further bit of information, I am a Nikon user of long standing, currently owning (and using) a D7100, a D750, and a D5200. I have been involved in landscape photography for years and am an experienced photographer, so I am far from being a novice as far as the P520 is concerned. I do not, and did not, consider the P520 to be a snapshot camera, and I am quite shocked at Nikon's attitude.

You can buy that camera on eBay for $35 for parts... Send both to many 3rd party repair places that work on Nikon cameras, and they can use the parts from your parts camera to fix your wife's camera. Sorry to hear about your problem...
