I have read the reviews of Canon Rebel and Nikon D60. I am still confused. I am gifting a camera to my sixteen year old niece. Which one should I buy?

Ok.I would get ther a D3000 and tell her to shoot with the daylight added on if indoors.Becouse it's smaller and still needs to be studied. And you can make adjustments to it with lenses, caps and photoshopers and background.
It works with remote and selftimer, but you have to get her a remote separatelly. If not,one of the new cameras with the projector,or the large zoomer one.Take her personality into account and work frome there.I mean if she's a glass wearer, the D3000 is best, unless she's weak handed. From guide mode, you can find a ten second self timer. The more light and study time, the better the outcome of the pictures.Certain settings work best indoors too. When I am in shutter mode, the one second remote timer works best.Possibly, becouse I am not using it the right way yet:).At least I began to study one of my favorite arts, since I havn't been well enought to paint.

whatever new 004.jpgP6000 with slightly shaky hands.Sorry, that's all I got so far..Minolta is nice, but I can't afford it,or even know where it is sold.Actually,Minolta is my third favorite, with Hasselblad being second, and Pentax and Cannon fourth.Becouse I like a nice silent image image. And if you have serious problems with your camera, you can return it and get another.I'm just trying to be helpfull.I'm not sure anything in this life is perfect and certainly not fully custom made for each person. In the thumbnail,I ruined it by oversharpening it.Every single picture of the ducks! You can see how beautiful the lens is in the swan and lake shot, even thou my hands were unsteady constantly.Tripods really help.

I think that the Canon PnS cameras are more menu user friendly than the Nikons. For people who want snapshots only and are not going to be camera enthusiasts, I recommend Canon Point and Shoots.

I agree with the two people before. However if she wants to get into digital photography, Nikon has a slightly easier interface to learn on than Canon.

I was at an event last Thursday where someone had a Canon Rebel. It felt like a toy compared to my Nikon. I looked at the interface on the back of the camera and it did not seem intuitive, but then again I have been shooting Nikon. Canon makes a good product. Side by side I like Nikon better. I believe Nikon glass to be superior to Canon and that was the initial reason I chose them over Canon. If you were looking at Point and Shoot, I would get a Canon. For DSLR, there is only one answer for me, the Nikon.
