Which DSLR is better Nikon or Cannon. Money is not the deciding factor. I am planning to gift a camera to myself as I am enrolling for a professional photography course.

Don't get hung up on camera makes and models. The best camera is the one that you will want to use. When it comes to systems, Nikon and Canon both have incredible capabilities. Some people get caught up in megapixels and autofocus speeds and other measureable data, but what really counts is your ability to see. I use Nikon equipment and have for many, many years. One of my best friends and colleagues who also shoots architectural work uses Canon along with his larger format digital equipment. Another colleague and friend (and also an architectural photographer) shoots with Nikon. Another great friend and food photographer shoots with Canon. So equipment choices vary and people have reasons for picking certain equipment. I have shot with Nikon since the days of the Nikon F3 when it was the 35mm film king...I have always liked the ergonomics of Nikon equipment and the lens quality. If I were shooting with Canon equipment I would choose the 5D Mark II. Great camera, full frame and excellent resolution ( I didn't say high-megapixels). So, go to the camera store and see what "feels" right in your hands and don't let all the numbers and facts get you confused. Both systems are capable of creating fantastic images in the right hands.
