New High Speed External SSD using CF Express Tech

Just got my update to Photography Life today and they have an article taking advantage of CF Express technology in SSD Storage up to 4 TB. I don’t really need one with Z6 size files, but with some of the larger file sizes used in cameras like the Z7, and 7II as well as the D850 could benefit from the higher speeds.

This was something I had not thought about, but it makes sense to see this tech. They are not cheap but I am guessing prices will come down in time.

I felt the same way. I don't need them right now but it is interesting info given the way the tech is moving.

After buying a Z 7II, I just added a Samsung 2TB T7 SSD for my photo back-ups and it's very fast at 1050MBS. It was $220 USD. That TSB is 1600MBS and the price is just about proportional to the increase in speed capability. Pricey but FAST! If I was into video and storing huge files regularly, I imagine I'd want to invest in storage that quick. Cool stuff....

When you said they were not cheap I was figuring there would be a comma in the figure. While they are certainly more than the standard SSDs right now, they aren't as much as I expected. That said, with my good old "low tech" D500 files I'm doing okay with regular SSD and spinning disks for backup. The future will catch up to me one of these days, though. Thanks for the link, I appreciate the info. :)

I am like you. I have a couple SSD drives that are plenty fast for me and I am happy to live with what I have right now. I thought these were interesting and will likely come down in price before you know it.
