Capture NX-D -- trouble converting files

For the past several years, I've used Nikon's Capture NX-D for post-processing. The last few times I've used it, I've had trouble converting some files. I bring up the RAW file, make my adjustments, select the "Convert File" button, fill out the necessary info, and when I click "start," it only momentarily shows the little pop-up progress screen that usually lingers for several seconds. The jpeg version that I've tried to convert from the RAW file never shows up in the destination folder, or anywhere else. There are no error messages or any indication that things didn't go as planned.

Anyone else having trouble? Is there a setting that I might have inadvertently changed?

Thanks for any help,
Bob

I have an idea 4 months later. What if you uninstalled the current version and went for an older version of the software? I'm using version 1.5.3 from 2014 because I like the layout the best. I don't edit on it mind you. Could be hardware incompatibility or something else. Try a site like older versions.com Or Nikon's website

Thanks for your suggestion, lucien. The problem disappeared as mysteriously as it showed up... it came and went with no explanation.

All is well now! I hope to be able to say that again next week after I transfer all my stuff from my 2013 MacBook Pro to my new MacBook Pro arriving Monday...

good luck with your migration

Thanks very much! It went very well, with "Migration Assistant" seamlessly transferring all my data and settings to my new MacBook Pro.

But guess what? Capture NX-D is non-functional on the new notebook! And I was so excited about seeing just how much faster the new M1 chipset would perform when processing images.

I installed "Rosetta", which is supposed too allow older software to work on the new OS. It loads up and I can modify RAW and jpg files, but as soon as I try to convert them, the program crashes... it shuts down the instant I hit the "start" button to save or convert the file I've worked on.

Luckily, View NX-i still seems to work OK on the new notebook. An error report was sent to Apple each time Capture NX-D crashed. I hope that means they'll try to get things sorted out.

Edit to add: No problem! I just had to download the 64-bit version of Capture NX-D. All is well now!

I think the software is too dated. Apple likes to do things like that. Glad to hear that the migration went painless. A while back they only allowed 64 bit software on their machines. You might have to find an alternative program if you don't want to shell out any cash. Plan B you could run boot camp. Install windows and continue as usual. You will need a windows key for that though. Dark Table is free, don't know about raw therapeee.

I didn't see your edits, no lolz. Be patient, Nikon could be working on it as we type.

Good luck,
