Problems with Topaz Sharpen AI on an iMac

I'm running an iMac with the High Sierra OS and Lightroom 6.14 and having issues when trying to edit photos with Topaz Sharpen AI.

When I run Sharpen from within Lightroom, it works, somewhat. Once Sharpen starts, it doesn't appear on the monitor, and I get no inputs into tool selection. After a while, the processed photo shows up in the photo bar in Lightroom with the Sharpen AI edits performed.

When I run Sharpen on its own, it opens but doesn't ever appear on the monitor. This is the only Topaz product that I'm encountering this issue with: Denoise AI, Adjust AI and all of the other editing add-ons perform just fine. When I right-click on the Sharpen icon on the task bar, I get a blue line forming a rectangle with rounded corners on the monitor.

So, what am I missing? What setting did I adjust to mess this up? Any ideas? Any and all help is appreciated.

I'm guessing it's an OS compatibility issue.

Thanks, but I looked into that early on, Jake. This configuration worked for a long time and the OS I'm running is listed as compatible with the version of Sharpen AI that I have installed.

I'm at the point where I'm likely just going to use Time Machine (TM) to reset everything to about two weeks ago. I'm a bit reluctant because I've never used TM to reset my Mac before.

Whiskeyman, the only thing I remember Jake mentioning is Sharpen AI slowed down his Mac a lot compared with the other Topaz products. Is anything you are experiencing related to RAM?

I don't believe so, Cindy. I'm running it on an iMac with 32 GB of RAM, which should be plenty for the applications.

The more I think about it, the more I believe that it's a video issue. After all, after a period of time, the system creates a .tif in LR, which means that some processing is going on. I wish that I could upgrade my Mac OS to an intermediate one between High Sierra and Big Sur to see if that helps resolve the issue. The only options for OS that I know of are keeping the current OS and upgrading to Big Sur, which is likely to caus other issues for me.

I'd open up a ticket with Topaz. Now that I think about it, I was getting some weird graphics issues with some of their software and High Sierra. Like the toolbar wouldn't be visible among other things. I thought I'd shot a video and stuck in on YouTube so I could show them but I can't track it down.
