on my mac if you protect it in-camera then you can't delete it on the computer because it carries over. need to see if lightroom has a function to reset that on the way in.

Jake, do you know if there is any way to drag the file(s) back to the card, put the card back in the camera, then change the settings in-camera for them?

I can't tell you the source of the problem but to get rid of the troublesome files you already have try restoring the files from the Recycle Bin. Then, navigate to where the files are and do a direct Permanent Delete. To do that, press and hold the Shift key while you hit the Delete button. This should bypass your Recycle Bin folder entirely and permanently delete the file.

Is it possible that you deleted these files from the card or camera with the computer while either camera or card were connected to the computer?

I think that if you have let's say a card in the reader and you delete a file with the computer and then remove the card, the recycle bin might want to have the card connected before you can delete the deleted files from the bin. I remember having this kind of a problem a long time ago.

This is why I NEVER delete pictures from the card. I copy the files to the computer's hard disk, remove the card and then format the card IN the camera. Then you can delete all you like from the disk and then only when you empty the trash bin will the available space be really free on the disk.

Hope this helps.

No, it works on a PC as well. Right mouse click on the file or folder, select "properties" and make sure "read only" in not checked

I tried to empty my trash & a huge RAW file refused to leave.
Do not know what I did, but it has been removed the last time I checked.
