Hi All,
I have the free NIK Tools bundle on one computer. I would like to put it on my new one. Is it possible to transfer the files to a card and then put it on my new computer. DXO wants $99 for the bundle now that has mostly the same old apps.

Thanks

The current, free DxO version of NIK is very good, but nags you to upgrade. I have the (Windows) installer file (.exe) for the last free Google version saved to my hard drive... If anyone needs it send me a PM.

@Dangerspouse. That plugin collection was pricey when it was introduced. I mostly use the noise reduction and sharpening. Now and then I use the Silver Efex for black and white conversion.

Thanks guys.
I just copied the folder out of my Applications on my old Mac and installed it on my new one. It was the old free Google one. Good enough for what I do. It works with the Affinity program that I have.

ADDENDUM: Well, that was a bust. I have the newer Affinity on my computer. I don't think they are compatible. All of the files are there, but it shuts the program down. Whah Whah.

you definitely need to reinstall it (for registry entries, integration with PS/LR, etc). i have the old version install but it is for Windows not Mac.

I did a full re-install, and it was a no-go. Something squirrely with the folders going on. I just did another install, and will see what happens.

If push comes to shove, you could try saving the file you're working on and then try to open it with the Nik module you wanted to use it with and see if it runs. Or to put it simply try it as a stand alone program. If it does work, then you could use it this way until you find a better solution to cut the time and save steps.

OK,
So, I did another install and got it working along with the update nag that Horoscope Fish was talking about. I went back into the preferences and set it up like my old install. The filters are working, and I will see if the update nag will go away. Anyway, I got it figured out.

Thanks, Everybody.

I don't know how to make it work as a stand-alone, but I managed to get it installed a few minutes ago. I am hoping the update-nag has been bypassed this time. I will find out soon enough.
Thanks

You can right click on the file you want to open and then select "open with" and choose the Nik module you want. If your Nik folder is in your applications folder, it should work.
