    Cloud storage...???

    Hi all,
does anyone use "cloud storage" for their files...? Any recommendations or comments...?
I'm considering using "pCloud" ... the $350 lifetime plan looks good to me.
    Thoughts...suggestions...????

    thanks,

I've been using Backblaze - The Best Unlimited Online Backup and Cloud Storage Services for many years now - excellent service and value.

you are at the mercy of a company that can change the rules or go out of business. I do my own storage at home. Here in the usa i can get a couple 0f 5 tb external hard drives for that price.

    Sounds a bit tin-foil-hatish. And that font/color....

I use two external drives at home (one goes in the safe) and a cloud based solution. Never put all your eggs in one basket.
Odds of both or your drives failing greater than a quality cloud solution bailing on you. Not to mention a disaster of some type at home.

Both Backblaze and Carbonite are sites that have been mentioned by members. I don't use either - but have multiple portable drives made by Western Digital.

I use Apple's Time Machine as well as multiple drives with Carbon Copy to dup. the external drives, and I also use BackBlaze... I end up with at least 4 copies of the file, one off-site in a cloud system...

my laptop has a 2tb solid state external hard drive. My 2 other computers have various size external hard drives and another 5tb drive to back all that up.

You might want to look at this old thread which discussed backups and Backblaze in particular.

I have at home, a Synology disc station. I back up everything. It’s not foolproof but it backs itself up. I can access it from anywhere in the world as long as I get the internet. No reliance required on any third party you’ve no control over.
