Hi, i hope someone can help me.
I use view nx2 for editing, but find when i look on my pcs photo folder, the edits have not been carried forward. When i open in view nx2 again, the edited version is tbere. I always say yes, when asked to save in view nx, so not sure why the edit is not carried over to my pc photos file.
Thanks for any advice
John

Welcome to the forum. I don't use View NX 2, but when you click on Save or Save As is there an option to say where to save it. ie C:/photos/my-pictures Maybe it is saving them, but not where you think they should be.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.
We look forward to seeing more posts and samples of your work.

First, are you shooting in JPEG or RAW? If you are shooting in JPEG and saving in JPEG, would you really want to overwrite your original out of camera file? Most recommend keeping the original out of camera file in-case you want to edit it in the future, say because you learned some new editing techniques you want to use on the older image. The same discussion would also apply if you are using RAW to RAW. While you can configure nx2 to save in your PC photos file, would you really want to do this? The way nx2 is working now by saving your processed files in view nx and keeping your original files (think of them as your negative) in your PC file is a really good solution.

I have had a play and more confused than ever. I appreciate your comments about the negative, but there seems little point in editing, if i can only view in NX2. I even tried cutting and copying, but when viewed on the pc, the edits were lost.
I cant even share my pictures with anyone.
There must be a way round this surely ?

Im shooting in RAW by the way
Thanks for any help

ViewNX-2 stopped working for me a long time ago. I use ViewNX-i now. Have you tried that or Capture NX-d?

The way this program works is to save edits in a sidecar file within the nef. If you want to see them (JPEG) on your computer, you have to transfer-export them in a jpeg file. You have to tell the program where you want these files to be saved.
My best advice would be to find a Youtube tutorial on how to use ViewNX or Nikon programs.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I got the problem myself and was searching for the answers but to no avail.
Luckily i played around with the menu.
So open in NX Studio;
1. Go to "Edit'
2. Click 'Options"
3. Click 'Save adjustment to the original file' and UNclick 'Do not save original Jpeg/tiff images to subfolder'

The original will then be transfer to a new files.
The edited and unedited photographs will remain in the original folders, while the originals photographs will be kept into the new folder.

Hope this help.
