how to take pictures with 1 seconds intervals

hi guys
I've got a d60 Nikon camera.
I want to take pictures of a phenomena every 1 seconds or even less. It means that I want something to press the shutter botton and shoot automatically.
I looked up in the camera setting but i didn't find anything useful.
So I connected my camera to my PC and used some softwares such as "Cameracontrol pro 2" and "Smart shooter" and "digiCamControl". But the problem is it takes more than 2-3 seconds for them to take a picture!!!
does anyone has a suggestion for me??

[h=2]Setting the timer[/h]
You will notice once you have your timer (or any timer) that there are four main settings:

  1. Delay – This is the delay between each shot. You can leave this at 0, unless you have a long shutter speed (night photography)
  2. Long – This is for the shutter speed, for example if you are doing a time-lapse of the stars, and you need a shutter speed longer than 30 seconds.
  3. Interval – This is how often you would like to take a picture, for a fast changing environment (sunset), a good starting point is every 15 seconds.
  4. Number of shots – this is as it says – for the number of pictures you would like to take. You can set this, but it is easier to leave the setting at (—-). This will mean the camera will just carry on taking pictures until another limiting factor means no more pictures can be taken; for example expired, empty battery or unavailable space on the memory card.

I think the problem may be that it takes that long to transfer each picture from your camera to your PC. digiCamControl and similar programs wait for the transfer to complete before initiating the next shot. Check whether any of them allow you to store the pictures in-camera rather than transfer them to the computer. That should solve the issue.

I try that too. digiCamControl can store pics in camera instead of PC. but the delay still exists!!!
I also lower my shutter speed to minimum but it makes no good!

sorry I dont understand!!
what is this quote??

There is no built-in timer in that camera.
You are using external software as the timer.
The software uses the same basic terms to define different settings in the software.

You can google for taking "time lapse images with the Nikon D60" and get similar answers

Fred, Since the D60 has no option to connect a timer, I guess the OP's only option is to use tethering via USB here.

Basically he has 2 options... He can use tethering software, which he's doing or

he can buy an external timer for that camera...

regardless of which he chooses... the terms or definition of settings are relatively the same...

I suspect, the problem he's having is the software has a limitation...

The D60 takes images at 3 FPS... the camera will do it... it's just a question of the timer intervals he's selecting...

If he wants a 1 second exposure every 1 second... that isn't going to happen...

That is surprising. I am working a my own tethering program using digiCamControl as the underlying engine, albeit highly modified, and any-length intervals work fine so far on the cameras I tested it on (D7100/D500). Not sure why that would be any different on a D60.

Nope, there is no way to connect an external timer, so tethering is it.

The way I understand the question is he wants to shoot every second or faster, at a shutter time much shorter than 1s. The camera probably needs to few 100ms to process each shot and has a small buffer, so after a few shots this may slow down some, but it should still be possible to shoot tethered at a rate of 1 picture/s. Not sure what the issue is here...

The D60 has a DC-2 connector that will accept a remote shutter release/intervalometer.

The problem will be finding an intervalometer for the D60 that does what the OP is looking for; we're talking about a ten-year old camera here after all...

The only thing I can think of that might work would be the Pclix IT and I think it runs about $150 or so.

I found an option of "interval timer shooting" in the others nikon camera's such as d300.
it is exactly what i want. but it doesn't exist in d60 unfortunatedly.
is there any way to add this feature to d60?
perhaps installing d300 firmeware on d60?!!

I'm afraid that might be a problem. As I said in a previous post, the D60 is a 10 year old camera and that is a large part of this problem.

No and no. Trying the intervalometer Fred Kingston linked you to above is your best bet. Uploading firmware meant for a different camera on to your D60 is courting disaster. Do NOT attempt.
