How can I send pictures from my computer.....

I have my desktop upstairs, and Mary has her laptop downstairs connected via Wi-fi (signal coming from my desktop)
I would like to send pictures from my desktop to a specific folder on her laptop .

As of now, I'm just putting them on her laptop from a USB drive, but it would be so much easier if I could do this right from my computer.

I need a simple solution and I'm willing to sacrifice about an hour of my life to setting this up.:unconscious:

I don't know much about this but think somewhere in network menu you have to allow "remote access" to the other machine so you can send file to specific folders.

Hope maybe this will take you to the right learning center...

I've had good luck networking Win10 to Win7 boxes using the usual setup / sharing instructions, those involving using a "homegroup" really help.

Connecting a Win10 to another, or two other Win10 boxes with the same reliability has proven impossible for me and many others on the internet. I've probably got 10 hours of fiddling with it (folder sharing, account priv's, permissions) with erratic success. How something can work one minute and not the next is a mystery.

For sending (or syncing) a few photos, it is hard to beat "google photos", "dropbox", or "onedrive". A cheap program called syncdocs makes using google photos/docs an easy and automatic scheme for transfering of photos.

Other programs are free, like free-file-sync, but take a bit more configuration work to make things fully auto sync'ed or one-way transfer.

I think the simple solution would be to set up a Shared Network Folder.

This was easy. I set up "Homegroup" on both PC's, set permissions, and wallah! Now I can just copy and paste from my "pictures" folder to Mary's "pictures" folder.:encouragement:

Just a side note here. Since I'm French I have to be the spelling sherif, replacing Jack for those who remember.

So the word "wallah" that you used is not permitted. It should read "voilà". Although it might sound about the same, the spelling is quite different.

Please do not take this warning seriously, there is no fine for a first offense. ;)

Just in case you (or anybody else) also want a solution that allows you to send your files to any of your devices wherever they are (same location or not), have a look at BitTorrent Sync (it's a different product to the better known BitTorrent software, but made by the same people). It's free and multi platform too. It's a little lacking on the setup instructions but once you've done it a few times you wonder what all the fuss was about. It's not cloud based. You simply send your files directly to your other devices via peer to peer (as long as they are turned on). Your devices don't need to be on the same network. It's free too :)
