Lightroom 6 Standalone

Not ready to make the shift to CC just yet. I hace Photoshop CS6 and had Lightroom 5. Did the upgrade to LR6 (last stand alone) yesterday. I still lean towards stand alone and was a little disappointed to find the stand alone does not include the Haze removal tool. Here is a plugin for this that have LR6 Stand alone:

Upgrade to LR6.2 first.

Once activated just go to the help menu and enjoy the slider.

I've been out of the loop for the last couple months, but recall not having some of the local adjustments as well. Any way to get those as well. I think it was lights and darks, etc.

I installed the de-haze several months ago. Like Chris, I'd love to have other plugins that CC has that us standalone users are missing.

I have CS6 and LR6.

I have not been a big fan of the haze removable tool. It looks more like it is just hiking the contrast up and generally to high. DxO Optics Pro seems to do a better job.

I am just switched my camera to RAW and am going to start to learn Post Processing. I have an unopened copy of Elements 14, but have also been wondering if Lightroom would be better to start with.

I do not think (as of right now) that I will get crazy with my edits, so from what I have read it seems like most people use LR a majority of the time and then only switch over to PS for the heavy duty edits (using layers, etc).

What are your thoughts on using Lightroom in conjunction with Elements?

I know I would have an investment of approximately $200 with both of these pieces of software (but I would own them), or I could get the creative cloud for $120 ($10 x 12 months).

Thanks for your thoughts in advance!

If you were to line up the 3 programs... relative to Editing complexity, first you'd have LR, then Elements, then PS... Additionally, starting with LR, it's more catalogue centric than Elements, and no cataloguing with PS...

LR has become more 'complex' over the years, and PS has become less...Elements is somewhere in the middle...

The underlying engines in all three products are very similar... and the 3rd party markets that create add-ins... accommodate all 3 products...

To be honest... with all the 3rd party add-ins aimed at the photographer market... I do 80% of my work in LR, and much prefer the 3rd party add-ins for the balance... and rarely need to goto PS anymore

Thanks Fred.

I think I am leaning towards picking up Lightroom and keeping Elements (I was able to get it for $50 through a promo). Eventually I would like to get the Nik Collection, as that looks very good.
