just for anyone that doesn't know, Microsoft will be giving away free legit copies of windows 10 to anyone that has windows 8 installed, even cracked versions of windows 8 so if you don't have windows 8 news a good time to just install it you can use ez loader to crack it for the time being or use as trial...

Not a fan of "cracked" software. I consider this theft. Just as if someone had taken your photos and used them for their own personal gain.
It's taking something and using it without paying. Whether it is $1.00 or 1 million. Makes no difference.
It's stealing, plain and simple.
Ok, getting off my soap box......

Carry on.

so do I but needs must sometimes, but I bet you share CDs DVDs bluerays or video games or have done at some point, that is also not allowed if you go to the letter.

but anyway I'm of topic, just pointing out theres a free upgrade and if you havnt got a specified windows version this will keep you going until it's released..

Sharing a single copy of something is not illegal. Duplicating it and giving it to someone no longer makes it "sharing".

I think technically it is or breaches the agreement you enter when you purchase it, but I'm not getting into an argument over it and most likely depends where you live.

Lending DVD's etc is covered under the first-sale doctrine. You're free to lend any original copy to anyone as long as you're not "renting" it for profit or duplicating it. This is why libraries can lend books, music cd's, movies, etc.

This is how it is in the USA anyhow.

they still say this on them or some do..

“The copyright in this sound recording and artwork is owned by Mumford & Sons. Warning: all rights reserved. Unauthorized copying, reproduction, hiring, lending, public performance and broadcasting prohibited.”

which means ant your not allowed one way or the other, also putting music via ripping into your mp3 player is frowned upon and was illegal if it's not anymore.

I'm running a legit copy of Win7, but still haven't received the Windoze10 Icon for update. I'm beginning to think they are going to treat me like my family does................forgotten. Ha!

Windoze 7 Home Premium SP1, but I think I found out why by reading what you posted @paul04. I don't have updates set for automatic updates. I like to know what is available and then choose what I want to update. I may have to change that thinking, actually I guess I will from what I understand about how Win10 will function. Updates are not an option, but will be mandatory (if I understand what I have read about Win10).

The last I heard from Microsoft, that IS the case for the Home and Pro versions of Windows 10. As the industry gets "used to" this system, we'll either see faster updates to applications when a new Windows update causes 3rd-party software to break *OR* perhaps Microsoft will back off on the auto-update requirement.

if you run an update scan I'll probably get the option, but if uve not run them for some time don't install them all at once too many at once can be problematic

I had changed my updates to automatic, thinking that might be the problem (I had always kept the updates current even though I did them manually). I also loaded IE 11. Still no update Icon. Oh well, not a big deal for me, I just don't like being left out. Ha!!

It will be interesting to see if Win10 will be ready for install on all of our computers when I get home from work today. I know my desktop had already downloaded it or was downloading it as it told me to hang on and that Win10 would be ready to install shortly.

I've read that the Win 10 update is free for 12 months then if you don't like it you have to do an operating system rollback.

If you do like it then you have to pay. I'm no expert but that technically means it's not a free update.

Is this true?
