New to Nikon. Have basic questions.

What are each of these Nikon programs used for and are they supposed to work together or separate? Why do the first two seem so similar? Or are they?


Nikon Capture NX-D seems to be an editor.


Nikon Picture Control Utility 2 seems to be another editor.


Nikon ViewNX-i seems to be a file browser for image files? I can see this is handy for browsing picture files for details.

A raw editor.
