I've owned a few inkjet printers over the years... they all pretty much sucked... I currently own an Epson Artisan 730. It has consistently amazed me... It's wireless features are bullet-proof... and trust me... My wife can send iPhone junk that will choke the most robust network devices ever made... she has no trouble navigating the Epson.

I'm in Florida, with the air conditioning running 7-8 months a year. Nothing dries out an ink cartridge like a 24/7 AC after a couple of weeks... The Epson's cartridges seem to last forever. Definitely better ink cartridge management than in the early days....

My monitor is calibrated... and I'm constantly amazed at the fidelity of colors between the calibrated monitor and the color prints I get...using the straight Apple drivers on the iMac printing wirelessly to the Epson...

The scanner/copier features of the machine are just gravy...

I use the HP office jet 6500a. It sucks as a wireless printer. It doesn't even have an option to hard wire it to the desktop. Most times I send something to print. I need to shut it down and on again for it to recognize the signal. I don't use it for photo's just for documents.

A general bit of advice concerning printers—I have learned that there is a very strong inverse correlation between the initial cost of buying a printer, and the cost of using it. If you buy a cheap inkjet printer, it will use expensive ink cartridges that run out quickly; and if you do very much printing, then it will take an amazingly short time for you to have ended up spending more on ink for that printer than it would have cost you to buy a much more expensive printer. A more expensive printer will use larger cartridges, that really don't cost much more than those used by a cheap printer, but which have much more capacity, and last much longer, resulting in a much lower cost per page. It doesn't take very long at all for an expensive inkjet printer to pay for itself in lower ink costs.

I currently have an Epson 4020, and I second @wev's recommendation. It's an excellent printer, a bit pricy upfront, but the XL cartridges last a very long time.

Before you buy the printer check the price of the replacement ink cartridge, I remember buying a lexmark printer, it cost more for the ink than it did for the printer,
I now use a Epson and very happy with it,
both Bob blaylock and wev have suggested the Epson 4020, so have a look at that.
