Hi & welcome.

The Nikon blurb talks about sending photos to your "smart device".

Requires installation of the Nikon ‘Wireless Mobile Utility’ application (iOS™ and Android™ compatible) on your smart device.

I'm sure other members can advise whether you can get photos onto your laptop via WiFi. The usual procedure would be via your card reader.

After reading the the sections in the manual concerning the Wi-Fi function, it seems that you can only connect it to an iOS or Android device. Therefore, you would not be able to connect it to your laptop. You have to connect it via USB in order to transfer files. Even if you connect it to a smart device, you would only be able to view the photos and take photos with the smart device connected.

Howdy and welcome to Nikonites!

One of my complaints with Nikon's Wifi support (as a wifi engineer for my day job) is that their interface only works with smart devices running Android of iOS, as @AC016 pointed out. To transfer files, you'll need to use a USB interface or move your memory card to the computer to transfer. One thing I noticed with my Mac, my cameras do not show up as external drives (as I would have expected), however my apps (Aperture/LightRoom/etc) do see the camera as connected and can transfer that way.

Hope that helps and looking forward to seeing some of your images here on Nikonites!
