Tethering software

For those of you who were not aware f it, there is some free tethering software available for Nikon cameras. I have played around with it and it seems to be vey good. Although I shoot in manual essentially 100% of the time, you can even make all kinds of settings changes from the program itself. All it requires is a USB cable from the camera to a laptop, etc. Depending on the speed of your computer, transfer is about 1.5 seconds or so. It will become useful in the studio as the results are much better than you will see on any LCD and are much larger and clearer.

Even I have installed it. Unfortunately, no program shows live view with the D3xxx series, so I use it only when I have to catalog jewellery of stamps. The day I get a higher body most probably an FX, then I will use it with live view for nailing the focus of macro shots.

Apart from this program, there are a few Android and IOS programs which enable the cell phones to act as a remote terminal for the camera.

Update, the latest version of Digicam Control now has Live View with D3300. I loaded it a few days ago and tested it. I can do most of the manipulations, but have to figure out how to change the zoom from the computer (I guess it requires a motor for zooming, which is not there in my kit lense).
