Is anyone using that software as either stand alone or a plug in to LR? I want honest hands on feedback about it before I decide to purchase it. I have a huge shoot coming up in a month or so that I think it would work well on if it really works as advertised.

Yes, I occasionally use it, very easy to overdo the processing. the program has a master slider that after doing the fixes I slide to almost off and that gives a more natural appearance. You can do a lot of the processing in LR or Photoshop such as skin smoothing, eye brightening and teeth whitening but not as fast as Portrait Pro can do it. Again, very easy to overdo the processing.

This was done in 2 minutes w/PP... I do any cropping/wb/color in LR, then edit in PP... with the LR adjustments...

edited to add:... the only adjustment I play with in PP is adding "lights" to the eyes, and maybe saturate the eye colors... otherwise, I pretty much just use all the defaults...

I bought version 10.8 of this a couple of years ago and use it occasionally. My wife insists I use on all pictures of her to make her look the age she feels !

As Ruidoso Bill says be careful its very easy to go overboard and make things too perfect.

I use it and love it. As others have said, easy to overdue. You won't regret having the program, but don't buy it at the last moment and try to use it. One step I find very useful is to shut down all of the adjustments and slowly bring the adjustments up one at a time.

Strongly encourage watching their tutorials. They are not long and easy to follow.

I keep adding to this as I remember things I would want to know...

Background caution. The program will sculpt the face. If you have close rigid lines near the face you will see the warping of the lines due to face sculpting. I have only had this be an issue one time with strong vertical lines.

BTW, when I bought it there was 2 versions, only difference was the expensive one was for RAW. As it turned out, I like to run through LR first and finish in PP, at which point it is Jpeg anyway. By cropping first, you have a larger face to work with in PP.
