Perfect Effects 8 is FREE again

onOne Perfect Effects 8 is once again being offered for free. This is a standalone piece of software that can also be invoked directly from LR/PS/PSE. It's got some outstanding filters in there, including an extremely effective texture tool. Their somewhat inappropriately named Dynamic Contrast filter is a combination of Nik's Viveza and the Detail Extractor filter in Color Efex 4 that will make landscapes pop like nothing I've seen before.

Hey, what do you have to lose, it's a $99 piece of software that they're giving away for free!!

OnOne is preparing for their big debut of Perfect Effects 8.5 and is hoping they can parlay free 8.0 users into paid users of 8.5. While Perfect Effects isn't my favorite PP software, it does have some nice portrait modules. And who can argue with free?!?

Thanks for the info Jake. I just installed it and playing with it now.
I have Lightroom and the Nik collection. This maybe redundant but for free, I'll take it.:)

Only 64bit operating systems, which Windows 7 does offer. It also requires 8 gigs memory to install and run. Pretty hefty system requirements to me.

Grrr. My laptop is 64-bit but only has 6 gigs of memory. And the computer I'm using right now is only 32-bit with 4 gigs of memory. I'll have to check and see if my laptop can accept any additional memory.

Ive never heard of that one. Does it work with Windows 7?

sent from my galaxy tab 2

D/L on my laptop running Windows 7 and works just fine. Looks like it has some interested effects.

{edit}

Maybe old hat for some but yeah it's kinds cheesy but it was pretty cool how quick and easy you could turn a pic into a vintage tin type.

Some filters are redundant, but there are things that onOne does better/easier than the Nik counterpart in Color Efex Pro. For free, you can't argue with adding it.

I'm pretty sure this was posted a Freebie some time ago but I missed the opportunity to download it before the offer expired. I like that it integrates with PS and LR because I don't really need any additional, stand-alone apps for photo editing. This looks like a real winner...

Thanks for posting this up!
