HDMI cable brand recommendations?

HDMI are digital cables and there is not much difference between them. A technology show over here 'The Gadget Show', had 2 identical setups only 1 was using a £5 cable and the other a £100 cable and they couldn't tell the difference.

I dont see the reason people spend so much money a big brand like monster etc. there is no discernible difference. get the cheapest you find.

I've bought from both amazon and monoprice. No problems with cheap cables. Just make sure you get one with the right connector for your device. I'm not sure how many types there are off hand, at least two.

Concur with everyone above. There's no need to spend ridiculous amounts (e.g. Monster Cable prices) on digital cables. Gold plated, extra shielded, etc... it's all hype playing on fears leftover from the analog era designed to get you to spend 5-10 times what you need for a cable. HDMI itself takes things a step further and uses something called transition minimized differential signaling, which among other things, enables it to actually figure out what is signal and what is interference and ignore the interference.

As for the brand, I use BlueRigger, ordered from Amazon. They're about as reasonably priced as the Amazon Basics brand, but the newer ones have a nice nylon woven sheath around them that helps them lie where you put them without trying to curl back up in the shape they were in in the box.

Cables for digital carry either 1 or 0. They either work or don't work. No point in spending a lot of money The exception is a cable that you are going to be plugging and unplugging a lot then you might want to spend just a little more to get a cable that has better plugs on the end

The only other aspect of HDMI cable you need to consider is the current version, as some of the earlier ones aren't spec'ed for network transmission.

Monster cables were hype in the analog days too... preying on the fearful, any way to steal a buck.

I was insulated from that during the analog era. My dad taught me how to solder when I was 10, and I thought the main way to get cables was with Radio Shack ends, a spool of wire, and the soldering iron. Little harder to do that with these twisted pair, 29 pin cables though.

I second monoprice.com. I've bought many things from them including a bunch of HDMI cables (regular ends, mini ends, and micro ends) and a wall mount for a 58" plasma. In every case they saved me a butt-ton of money and the items were always high quality.

I have purchased the $2 specials that occur periodically at a locally owned electronics store. Never had a problem with them. As someone else said, it's 0 or 1. Digital is simple that way. If it sends a bad bit, it won't work, but so far, I have never had a problem with the inexpensive digital cables.
