Can anyone recommend any photography apps for an android smart phone? Please note I'm asking about apps that can help when using a dslr (D7000 in my case), not an app about photography with a phone. Thanks

Go to play store, download all the free ones.
you'll be through with them quickly.

i think 'photography trainer' is a paid.. it's alright.. nothing exceptional.

the best app would be 'you tube' :)
seriously. that's the best resource

I use the photoshop touch app on my tablet, but I don't think it will work on a smartphone. It's a pay app, but it's well worth it on a tablet. I use it to post process all my photos. :D

They have apps for ND filters (figuring out exposure times given the certain factors). I used them a couple of times.

Are you looking for apps that merely assist you in performing a specific function while in the field? If so:

DSLR Dashboard
Sun Surveyor
PHOforPHO
Photo Tools Pro
The Photographer's Ephimeris
Sun Trajectory
Moon Trajectory
Moon 3D
Eclipse
A whole bunch of Audobon guides
DOF calculators
ND Filter calculator
Stopwatch & Timer (great for exceedingly long exposures!)
Various GPS apps, both for my location as well as geotagging

If your looking for apps that teach, I'd suggest books instead. You really can't learn out in the field while trying to read an app.
