Hulk, sorry that I cannot help all that much, never having used Capture One. I do use lightroom every day and am pleased with what it does for me...

If I need more, I look to the Nik Collection and/or PS Elements 11.

I own both and I strongly prefer Lightroom. But it's about preference. It didn't take me long to figure out that I wasn't crazy about Capture One.

I suggest you download trials and decide for yourself.

Don't u think capture one rendering is far superior to Lightroom 5?

Not sure what you mean by rendering. We're not talking about CAD programs here.

Like I said, decide for yourself via trials. Nobody else can decide for you.

If you prefer Capture One, then that is what you should get!!

Where can you read about my preference? I just stated from my experience that capture one renders raws much better. Knowing this I wonder what is your driving factor to prefer lr5 everything out there?

Can you post the difference processing that capture does to a RAW file compared to LR? I would be very interested in seeing the results.

Also with any processing if its over done it will become grainy and 'over processed' so I guess it depends on where you stop your processing.

I use Photoshop CC 99.99% of the time. I rarely use anything else. Everyone has their preferences. (I use 3DS Max a lot, so I know what you mean about too much CAD work)

Now that doesn't imply that I don't know Lightroom or Capture One. I know them very well. But for my workflow, I prefer Photoshop to anything else.

Everyone's workflow is different. Everyone's preferences are different. As Pat said, if you like Capture One so much, use it!

That was in reference to your statement... does not matter so just forget I said anything...

I never stated I preferred LR5 over all, just indicated I liked it as it did what I needed and I used it everyday. I also stated I could not help with a comparison to Capture one as I never used it.

Sorry to get in the middle... I will stay out...

I suspect his (and my) impression that you prefer Capture to LR has everything to do with the term "far superior" that you used in your post.

I agree. It might sounds like that. I wonder where everyone is really in terms of photo editing and processing. As we know capture one is "what photography is made from" that's why I am asking wherever you agree with their statement by comparison.

Just reading up about capture one 'pro' and from all accounts it sounds great, 'clunky' but great. I may have to investigate this further :)

Oh and PS Photography is not made from Capture one, photography is made from art and art is made by the masters :p

Capture One Pro is clunky. That's just my experience using it for thousands of photographs. It is an immature product compared to Adobe's lineup. To each his own.

It is clunky I agree. I am wondering how do you find its raw processing engine compare to lr5? I've got two 27" iMacs and often proves same image by both capture one and Lightroom. Capture 1 images quality is much better but the trade of is the user interface speed. Also the fact that I have to export an image in order to work it out in Photoshop. No bringing it back the way Lightroom does. Things like that.
