Focus stacking in Lightroom 5

I've been talking to a colleague who uses photo stacking in Photoshop and I'm wondering if you can do the same in Lightroom?

What is Focus stacking?

Focus stacking is where you shoot multiple shots of teh same subject but focus on a different section each time and them combine them using only the section that is in focus to make the final print.

The after shot is a combined 5 shots.

Well guys, seeing as how Lightroom won't do it and I'm guessing NX2 can't, because I can't see any reference to it being able to in the index, is there any cheaper software than Photoshop that can do it? I can't justify Photoshop prices just for this.

Thanks so I guess what I wanted to do with these but didn"t know what it was called

Piece them all together. Right

Cause it was just one big painting on the side of a building.

Combining images side by side is called Panorama.. or stitching as Kodiak noted.
This is used to show a large landscape (for example) which wouldn't be possible with one image as one by stitching multiple images

Combining images one on top of the other is called Focus stacking.
you can use this to combine images with varying focus points to have a fully focussed image

Yes, there are a few -

Helicon Focus (not free, but there is a trial version)
CombineZM (i think this is free, but i think it's only for Windows)

WhiteLight,

What you meant to say is ok but not correct…

This is the corrected version:
Combining images one on top of the other is called stacking.

This is important because stacking is not a feature for focus only. Other operations are done
through stacking as well. Like HDR for one!

Have a good time!

Hey, Donald, my sons and I are doing all these things on our MacPro and MacBook Pros.
Furthermore, these apps are MAC NATIVE!

Type your search and add "mac" or "for mac".
