It's a firmware update so it will work with the "Auto Distortion Control" setting of your camera. With this function enabled the camera body and lens "talk" to one another to correct for distortion automatically.Looks to be a good one, but how does it work?
Do you install this & run it for each image or does it integrate into some software?

In order for this to work, however, the lens in question has to be in the "library" of lenses stored in the camera's firmware. This update adds *more* lenses to the exisiting library so the auto-distortion control function will work with them. I'm glad to see the 18-105mm has been added as well as the 55-200mm!

Nikon sends a personal representative to Dave's door and inquires when would be a good time to update the firmware on his cameras. They do a complimentary sensor cleaning as well and Dave gets a massage while waiting. It's all part of the D800 "Pure Platinum Package".Does Nikon e-mail you if there is a firmware update for your camera?
Or do you just look on the nikon site for firmware updates every so often?
Just subscribe or check Nikonrumors.com . Any firmware update will be posted there. Thanks Dave,
