What do you have on MAC

Very new to the world of OS/X and have been looking around for apps that i can get cozy with.
It would be very helpful if you could list out your favorite photography software you use from the minor ones like the ones for resizing as well as the big guns like cs6 etc...

Thanks

I find that McDonald's "special sauce" works best on a Mac.........."two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun"

Sorry, I use a PC and know nothing about Mac's but just couldn't help throwing that in........

I should mention my main workstation is a Windows 7 box. But I do have a MacBook Pro that I use for travel and just moving around. Because of that I thought iPhoto was good enough for my needs. I liked the face recognition and organization was good. I didn't like how the files/pics weren't intuitively accessible. As I got more and more used to LightRoom I stopped using iPhoto on the MBP and replaced it with LR4. LR4 is more robust IMO but not as organized. I also have CS4 on the laptop as well but rarely use it... esp. now that I have LR4 on it.

Well i too have a Win7 which WAS my main machine.
But i've had it with windows... i waited to see if win8 would do justice to the 'open source' kinda thing with respect to building your own PC as you need, but as always they have come up with nothing special.
i think the only 2 usable OSs from MS was Win XP & Win7.

Anyway, i have started using LR & iPhoto, but as you can guess the availability of a plethora of apps for even small functions is low..
So have to really search to find a good enough app for things like resizing and applying borders etc...

Sooner or later i may install Win7 via bootcamp..

Why add borders when redbubble does it for you?

I have Win7 loaded on my MBP via bootcamp. It is pretty slick and I did it "just in case" I needed it but I've never needed it. Having issues getting Windows updates on it but not sure if it's an issue because of MBP or just something Windows. I don't have the time to troubleshoot it.

I have a MacBook Pro (but I boycott McDonalds :) ). I use NX2, and Photoshop Elements if I need to tweak anything that cannot be done in NXView. I have used iPhoto but wanted a little more control and features. I have also installed Darktable, which is open source. It lets you upload your raw photos, and tweak them. I installed it because I also use Ubuntu Linux on a different laptop.

If you are looking for open source software for your Mac, take a look at Darktable and Gimp. Both are available for Mac. I have both of them on my Ubuntu Linux laptop. Haven't played much with the Mac version of Darktable but have used it a lot on Ubuntu. It's not hard to learn and works very well. Oh, and it's free!

When I went digital a little over 3 years ago, I first tried to use Windows and did not like the results and also felt it was just clunky, and not right somehow. About 8 months later, I bought a MacBook Pro and have never looked back. I also ended up getting rid of Windows completely (except at work) a year ago when I got a new Dell XPS 17" laptop. Installed Ubuntu Linux. I do most of my photo editing work with the Mac and everything else with Linux.

Hope that helps.

Also, I do have Microsoft Office 11 (minus Outlook), Works, and Libre Office (it's open source), among a bunch of other applications. I happen to like Libre Office and use it on all my computers, including my work PC.

Glad I could help.

Darktable is like the open source version. I first discovered it for Linux and use it on my Linux laptop. I like it in Linux and it works without problems. I have not tried it on the Mac yet but I think it works about the same. I plan on playing around with it on the Mac.
