So you have this spiffy new computer running 64-bit Windows, right? As most Nikonites probably would do, you copy your image library over to the hard drive. Open Windows Explorer and see the folders but not the thumbnail images. Oh, right! You forgot to load the NEF Codec!! Then you read that the codec doesn't support 64-bit operating systems. What is going on Nikon? I know your software development is slow but are you kidding me?

Let's hit Google and see what other's say. Canon users are in the same boat? The Adobe DNG codec is slow and buggy? This is a travesty!

What can you do? You might want to check out the FastPictureViewer Codec Pack website that your "favorite" Nikonite moderator recommends!

You're right Essence! Once Apple provides the system update for new cameras! Stuff like this is why I use a Mac AND Windows.

FPV used to be donationware but the author was barely getting any donations. He has changed it to shareware. The current cost is around US$10. The only other competitor charges US$30 (which the author has indicated he will raise his price to at some point).

This version works very well. I've only been using it for a few months and randomly check and apply updates. The best thing I can say is that "it just works".
