Do you shoot outdoors and often wonder when is the best time of day to take photographs? Or maybe you're just one of those photogs who loves taking pics of sunsets. Here is the ultimate tool for you!

Check it out: The Photographer's Ephemeris

This is a free program (there's even an iPhone app) that allows you to plan your shoots by showing you all kinds of handy info, including where the sun will be in the sky based on your geographic location. It even gives the exact time of day for sunrise and sunset!

I've been using this for a few weeks now, and it's pretty handy.

I fancy myself as a scenic photographer and this program is really great for any photographer, not just scenic, who needs to know where the light is will be coming from and/or the exact point on the horizon where sunrise/sunset, moonrise/moonset will be. Serious scenic photographers plan these shots as much as a year in advance to get the sun or moon in the exact position they want. Kudos to you for finding this one and bringing it to our attention. I would also suggest making this one a sticky in the General Photography Forum.

Happy shooting,
Joseph

Anthony, thank you for this link. It's nice to have all info in one place (too bad he couldn't program in a 20 day weather forecast! LOL)

Best Regards
