If you every get a chance to see this place in person I highly recommend you do! It's about an hour train ride from Paris. This picture is of the north side of the cathedral.

Anyway, I took this with my 10-24mm wide angle. I did some editing in photoshop and after looking at it again it seems like I added a bit too much contrast with the church walls. What do you think?

Here's the exif:
ISO:200
ExposureTime:1/250
MaxApertureValue:4
FNumber:10
Focal Length:14 mm

Fantastic shot!
I'd like to see an atheist come out of here unchanged!
The contrast lends an air of overwhelming power to the image.

(Scares the crap outa' me! Kinda like my ex-wife!)

I wouldn't change a thing!

Living in England for the past 5 or so years, one of my favorite things to do is exploring the many, many cathedrals, churches and cemeteries...and I take so many photos of these ancient architectures it is pathetic.....but just a little..lol
I think what you've done is perfect...
I'm not an authority or one at that should critique and usually steer clear from it... But I've seen how windows like these will glow blue and even as high up as the rose window is in this photo the color is coming through too... I love these buildings and how the different textures of stone will give off a rainbow of color..... and you've brought out all of that. The turquoise colored roof top is awesome!
Hope you don't mind my two cents... But I just love these structures and this is a beautiful photo.. IMHO

Haha, yeh really. Thanks! It really does move you when you see it because it's so incredible, regardless of your religion.

Thanks! Chartres actually has the most original stain glass windows in the world. I wish the main rose window wasn't being worked on when I was there, it looks amazing from other pics I've seen.

They're doing some extensive restoration work on the interior as well. The difference is literally night and day! There's over 1000 years of grime on those walls. I wish I would've gotten some better pics of the interior.
