Anyone figure out how to disable the auto white balance? I'm experimenting with time lapse and I don't want the white balance to be different between photos.

I'm not familiar with the D5000 menus, but can't you select a different white balance or set one?

I own a D5000 and have re-configured the white balance off of AUTO when the need arises. There must be some form of WB or the camera will not be able to correct for the different temps (K values) of light. This function actually is a blessing as you can set the camera internals to the specific light source you are using.

You can go as high as 8,000K if you so choose. I have not ventured there as of yet. I believe there are 11 different settings which should cover most any lighting conditions. There are 4 just for flourescent.. warm-white 3,000K, white 3,700K, cool-white 4,200K and day-white 5,000K. Enjoy.

Just use a manual setting rather than the AUTO setting as appropriate to the situation you are shooting.

I never bothered with white balance and my time lapses seemed acceptable.

Shoot in RAW and it doesn't matter what it's set at, you can adjust all the shots in post so that they match, even easier if you do this as a batch process
