sticky lens

Has anyone had the problem I have with the lens that came with your camera? Mine kinda sticks as I zoom in and out with it. The one I purchased separately is very smooth.

Which lens has the "sticky" issue? Lower priced lenses may not have the smoothest of zoom function. Even my $500 AF-S 70-300 VR is a bit sticky compared to my $1500 AF-S 80-200 2.8. Lenses that zoom without the overall length changing are usually smoother than those that extend/retract as you zoom.

The lenses that come with the camera body are called "kit" lenses. They are produced at a much faster rate than the other more high end lenses and may not be as smooth as they should be. I think what you will find is that the lens will smooth out with use.

I agree with joseph. If its a new lens it will prob smooth out in time. If its an old lens may need to be put in the shop for cleaning and maintenance. Be careful around beach areas with ur equip, even light breezy days can get sand particles in ur equip.
