I am 82 years, a retired Professor of Medicine, teach Digital Photography at a local community college; consult at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas - go there once or twice a year - married to my incredible and tolerant wife Luisa for 58 years, have 5 'kids' and 9 grandchildren.

I enjoy making images of people - environmental portarits, I say --- believe that you should make every effort to make it right at the camer .. and thus, make minor post processing to my images - use ACDSee Pro 3.0 primarily and FastStone Image viewer.

All my equipment if NIKON, except my walk-around camwera a Canon G-11 ... as I tell students, always carry a camera with you, without it is impossible to take pictures, as you know not when and where that incredible image may come before you!

Have a nice day and I look foward to continue learning !

Hi Lloyd and welcome! I noticed that you have both the D300 and D700. Which do you use more?

Thanks for your reply. I use the D300 much more than I do the D700 - mostly because I go out with a close and dear friend to shoot pictures to varios parks here in the vicinity of Gainesville and use the 18-200m Zoom ... that does an incredible job... the VR makes a big difference, given the shakes of the age :)) When I go out these days I wear a vest rather than my swing-pak because it's most convenient and comfortable .. carry a couple of additional CF Cards, a couple of batteries, a polarizing filter ... cell phone, a "jug" of water (usually a homemade orangeade .. unadulterated.

Hope this answers your query and a touch more, hopefully giving a better insight into Lloyd

Warm regards,

Lloyd

The 18-200 and D300 is a great combo! I totally agree about the VR. What do you think about the newly announced FX version (AF-S Nikkor 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR)? Do you see enough of a difference in what you shoot between the D300 and D700 to go down that route?
