Hi, I am Krista Clay from Kansas. My lovely daughter just bought me a P100 for my birthday because I expressed an interest in photography and have previously been taking pictures with my cell phone camera! LOL! Anyway, I take a lot of bad pictures, but occasionally I get some that I like! I enjoy looking at my world from new angles, and look forward to getting better and better! This is a hobbie that I can see myself spending lots of $$ on! Could become an obsession! Glad for this site to help me along!;)

Hi Krista and welcome to the Nikonites Community. I see you like taking pictures of bugs. The P100 does a good job. You will find a lot of friendly people here ready and willing to answer your questions. My wife likes the shot of your cat. It looks just like the one we have, named Trouble.

Happy shooting,
Joseph

Krista,
I understand the NAS problem (Nikon acquisition syndrome). It gets in your blood and then next thing you know, your camera bag is growing. Just keep in mind it is the photographer and not the equipment. Well not all equipment anyway. I used to shoot archery and the old saying was "It is not the bow but the jerk on the string".
To that note, check on Amazon.com for the book "Understanding Exposure" by Bryon Peterson. It will help you understand why sometimes you get good pictures and other times not. It will help you change your luck into a purposeful decision of what picture you will end up with.
Welcome to the site.

Hi Krista! I am also a beginner using a d5000 and an 18-200mm lens. I love to shoot natures (ie. mountains, flowers and insects). In 2 months time of ON and OFF shooting, I got my first job as an enthusiast photographer. I was hired last August 28 on the 7th birthday of my niece. The package price? FREEEEEE!!!! hahaha! Keep it up Krista! We will learn little by little on this site. Good luck!
