Hello,everyone:

I still can't decide which DSLR (a NIKON of course) I should start with:confused: and I can't even

call myself a "newbie" yet... Hopefully, I will make up my mind this week on which camera

to get and have many questions for you citizens to answer.

Thank You all in advance!!!!!

Welcome to the forums! Some additional info would help us help you make a good camera choice.

  • What's your budget?
  • Any idea what you might like to take photos of?
  • Just a hobby or thoughts of going pro one day?

I have the D90 in my mind but not sure if I should wait for the update.

Mostly portraits and landscapes,I will say.

Just want to start taking "really nice pictures" as a hobby.

Thank you,Anthony!!

That's a tough spot to be in. The D90 will probably drop in price once its replacement is available, or if you want the latest and greatest, you still have to wait! With the upgrades planned, my guess is the new version is going to be a bit more expensive. As it is now, the D90 is "upper middle class". At least from what I've read, the update will put the camera at the lower end of the pro spectrum.

Either way, you're in good company. The D90 is a good platform to build on.

Welcome Nikonioi to Nikonites, hope you get your camera soon and get started. Waiting for the latest and greatest will keep you from ever buying one, it never ends.

Thank you for your advice Yibel.

Today I heard a rumor saying that the D3100 will be coming out very soon and there will be no D90 replacement in the near future.

?????????? stuck again?????????????

never an end to the rumors, my advice is buy the best one you can afford and enjoy it. Taking pictures and wanting to take pictures are a long way apart.

The D90 is a great camera for someone just starting out and wants to be a good photographer and not just a point-an-shoot guy. It will take you through the beginner level up to advanced amateur even up to pro. This one has all the functions and features you will be able the handle for the next couple of years or more. By the time you learn to use this one Nikon will be coming out with a replacement for the replacement.
