Lightroom 3 editing

I am about 3 days into the free trial of Lightroom. Just had to explore it after seeing so many of you using it. So far I'm liking it and from what I've been reading it is pretty good for noise reduction and I'm always trying to get a little better iso performance out of the old d200. How many of you are using other programs like noise ninja and neat? Another question I have is where do you stop with the lightroom and move on to other programs?

I use Adobe Camera Raw (which is the predecessor to Lightroom and comes w/ Photoshop and Bridge). Generally, these programs are great for most photo adjustments because they are non-destructive (don't distort pixels). In particular anything that falls under the Basic/General category such as White Balance, and correcting tone and contrast issues.

Anything beyond that, and I import to Photoshop: cropping/resizing, fixing blemishes, applying actions, etc.

But that's just me. I've used Photoshop for a very long time and am comfortable with it. Lightroom has actions/presets for applying different "looks" to photos just like Photoshop does. To me, Lightroom is just something else to buy that doesn't offer anything that I can't already do. That said...if I were just starting today, I would probably opt for Lightroom because it's much easier to use and is a heck of a lot cheaper.

You might want to look at this primer for using Lightroom and basic editing: http://bit.ly/98NzmL

I use Lightroom for all of my basic edits. I'll pop to PS or Autopano for panoramics; PS or Photomatix for HDR; and if an image needs a lot of help, I'll make a virtual copy and open in PS to utilize Viveza, Color EFEX and/or Topaz Adjust so when I save it (as a PSD) the file is added into my catalog.
