My first attempt at motorsports

Finally got my camera out to a local racetrack to attempt my hand at panning. This was my first attempt and really happy with how some of the pictures came out. I posted my favorite 4 below, always open to CC.

And probably my favorite of the night.

My only problem with the last one is the noise. And I'm gonna assume that's from it bumping iso up to 1600 when rest weren't taken any where close to that. Gonna assume that was due to the constant changing lighting conditions with the sun going down.

Is the only way to fix that a better lens? Or is that a limitation of my D3200? Should I limit the maximum iso more? Right now I have it maxed at 1600. That's with no type of noise reduction done. May try that first.

I don't know what lens you are using, but a lens with a larger maximum aperture will permit you to shoot at a lower ISO, and that will reduce noise. Of course, you will have to deal with a narrower depth of field, too.

Nice shots, the first is my personal favorite.

It's a Tamron 70-300 f4-5.6. Both first and last where shot at F5.6 as I was in shutter priority mode. Hindsight should have been in Manual and wide open as sun was going down. Difference is 1st was 1/500 and ISO 160 and last was 1/50 and ISO of 1600. I had played with shutter speed to try and get the cars blurred as they cross the figure 8 with the track in focus. And in my stupidity I didn't double check what it was at before (image 1) when i took image 4. After looking at exif data it makes sense now why 1 and 4 look so different, their settings are vastly different.
