Audi R8 Taster

Hey everyone. I did an Audi R8 taster session for my birthday this year. And with an hour and half wait before my turn, I had plenty of chance to try my motion photography.

Here's a few examples of the cars I shot.

My mate who I went along with took the camera off me when it was my turn...he needs some work...

I've been shooting track events for about 10 years and it takes time to learn how to pan for motion blur while maintaining a sharp, moving subject. For me, it's pivot at the hips and a SS of 1/125 - 1/160. Fast enough to keep the focus point sharp and slow enough to show the wheels spinning. Here's a shot from our Fall DE of the new GT4.

I was lucky enough to go to the F1 testing last year in Catalunya, here are a couple of my shots, they are a heck of a lot quicker than they look on TV !!

I've never heard of a "taster" referring to automobiles before.

Yeah, sorry. It's a UK Term. It's a "taste" of what the car can do. Three laps with an instructor in the passenger seat. I managed to break 200Kmh in it, so it was quite a ride!
@singlerosa - If you look at the shutter speeds on those pics, you can see I had trouble getting them right as I went through them. Finally found a sweet spot on the R8 itself. I chose the spot I wanted to take the pic and set the autofocus on there, and held the shutter button in half way. Then when the car came round, I panned with it and full pressed when it hit the spot I'd focused on. That was my method for it anyway.

Not sure what my method my friend tried lol.
