I am facing a very irksome problem. I am able to capture pictures from my D40 camera but the funny part is that I am unable to see it as the screen goes blank. What should I do?

When happens when you press the playback button? Does the screen light up at all? If not then you'll have to take the camera to get repaired.

Go into your Custom Setup Menu and check out the Image Review setting.
If it's set to OFF, that's your problem. Turn it ON.
If that's not the problem, then take your camera back to the dealer or to a Nikon repair center to get it checked out...

However if the screen does come on but the time is too short for you, check out the Auto Off Timers in the same Menu. There's a Short, Medium, and Long setting there...
And there's a Custom setting there also, where you can actually set the number of seconds you want the Image Review to display the photo for you on the LED screen.

Check out your manual and learn how to set up your D40's Menu options (if you haven't already done so?). It can make your life with the D40 a whole lot easier and more satisfying? ">})
