Flash present or absent

Yes, the Nikon D200 has a built in flash, however, I would strongly suggest a hot shoe mounted flash for better flash control.
The number of photos saved in the camera depends on camera settings and size of CF card. Consult your user manual for camera settings.

Again, I agree with fotojack ... use a hot shoe connected flash. I don't know if others have noticed it, but when I use the internal flash my camera battery life is
shortened significantly. I use it for 'fill' only when I have too.

I use my built in flash (turned off) as a commader for my SB 800 & 600 only. I never use it as a speed light. Everyone is right use a off camera speed light if possible. Nikon's CLS is fantastic, if you get a chance to use it, you will never go back...lol.

I also agree, the built in flash is for emergency use only, eats up the battery and is weak in performance, a good hotshoe flash is far superior and even better when off camera.
