I picked this discontinued lens up a few months ago but in great condition for $170 US. It had just sat in my camera bag until now but I got my opportunity to try it out when my wife and I visited the Bunya Mountains National Park near where I live on the weekend. The Park is a beautiful highland rainforest area in south-east Queensland and with its low light and enclosed rainforest vegetation it offered a great location for trying out the lens. We had experienced some very hot days and my wife and I needed some relief from the heat. We knew it would be cooler at the Bunyas. As it turned out, it was 25 degrees centigrade at the Bunya Mountains versus our 34 degrees at our home only 45 minutes away. I took my trusty D700 along with the lens and they appear to be a fairly good combination. Not a lot had been written about this lens and for the price I found it to be a gem. Below are a few photos I took with the lens.

Your results look nice, dont know if you have found this but if you upload the first picture then hit enter a couple of times and upload the second one,you can repeat this as much as you need and your pictures will be separated,it does them more justice.

Thanks mikew, I will do that next time. The separate pictures would have allowed me to provide some commentary. For example, the 1st photo shows the typical walking track through the rain forest, the second is of a not so nice tree - the stinging tree (not only do we have the most venomous snakes and spiders in Australia but some of our plants can be nasty too), the 3rd is of a small rainforest stream, the 4th is of a strangler vine that has replaced its original host that has long since decayed away, and the 5th is of a small waterfall that is a common feature in the park. It is one beautiful area and you can see the 20-40mm range and f/2.8 of the lens was ideal for this sort of location.
