It'll be interesting to see how many post in the December assignment and post the same shot in the weekly.

Last week, I took some pictures of a nearby yard's Christmas light display. I used one of the image from that set for the Monthly “Kitsch” challenge. I've got a picture from the set that'd be perfect for this challenge, but alas, it was taken last week, making it ineligible. When my wife gets home with the car, perhaps I'll go out and redo that shot, just so I can use it here.

This is not my entry!

Here's the shot of which I was thinking.

I've got some ideas about possibly making it even better the second time.

[Update 21:28 PST]

Alas, the display I wanted to photograph is not lit up tonight. I did get some shots at a different location, and depending on how they come out, perhaps that'll be my entry. If not, then perhaps I'll have to try the first location another night.

[Update much later…]

I've processed the images from tonight's shoot, and I wound up with something that is rather nice looking, but no match for what I wanted. I guess I'll keep it in reserve, in case I don't get to trying that first site again on a night when the owners have it lit up.

[Update 12 December 2014]

Alas, that yard was again not lit when I went by it. Perhaps I'll try again tomorrow night, weather permitting. I do have another picture in reserve, in case this one doesn't come through, but I really want to redo this one for this challenge.

This is my entry.

This yard was lit up tonight. Unfortunately, it appears that some thieves stole some of the decorations that previously were on this tree, probably the same thieves who stole the inflatable Santa Clause that I used as an entry in the “Kitsch” theme for the monthly challenge.

This is composited from six different shots, using the stock 18-55 lens on my D3200. I took two bracketed sets, at ƒ4.0, at shutter speeds of 1/20, 1/5, and 2 seconds, and used Microsoft GeodesicHDR to produce an HDR image of each set. Then I used Microsoft ICE. to stitch the two images to make the whole.

I put the Christmas tree up today, only because I had an idea for this photo challenge.

Its a good job no one could see me with the camera in the middle of the Christmas tree, they would think I've gone mad.

During my trip to Disneyland in California. It appears that Nikon struck a deal with Disney and they are the official cameras that are being used throughout Disneyland.
